They lived on the Kirby Ranch in the Hall District outside of Watsonville. Over the years Robert worked as a rancher, clerk and musician (he played the coronet and slide trombone). Anna was born, raised and lived and died on the old family ranch. They are both burried in Santa Cruz at Holy Cross Perpetual Care Cemetry. Robert and Anna's first home after they were married was at 141 Elm St. Watsonville, next door to Robert's Parents who lived at 139 Elm St. They had 6 children. In 1907 they moved to the ranch in San Miguel Canyon near the Lake School. In 1908 they moved to the lower ranch on Hidden Valley Rd., near Elkhorn Slough because the house on Sin Miguel was to small. In 1913 they moved to Maple Ave. in Watsonville as they were too far from the schools while living in the country. In 1914 they moved again to 26 Sudden St., Watsonville which was closer to the Convent School. In 1918 the Kirby Family ranch was divided up after the death of Anna"s parents. Anna Margaret inherited the famil HOME RANCH with 75-100 acres and some cattle. Anna and robert moved out to the Ranch House during the flu epidemic that year that claimed several Watsonville residents. Due to the Flu epidemic, there was no school, no church, no gathering until the epidemic passed. When they first moved out to the ranch Tom, Margaretl,Loretta, Raymond, and Joe were Still living there. During the epidemic perior, one of the men (wearing a mask) would go into town to purchase groceries and other supplies. Anna and Robert lived on the Kirby Ranch in the Hall district outside of Watsonville for the rest of their lives.
